The NUCCA adjustment is very precise, beginning with the x-rays. The x-ray equipment is laser aligned to take the most precise films possible and we utilize precision instruments to analyze the x-rays. The measurements are then combined with calculations based upon the laws of physics and biomechanics in order to calculate and determine the exact formula used for each spinal correction that is unique to the patient; no two formulas are the same. Each is developed for the individual person with over 10,000 combinations possible. There is no guesswork; the adjustment is calculated before the first adjustment is made!
The NUCCA assessment that occurs allows the doctor the ability to visualize and reduce the misalignment long before symptoms are present. Children can be adjusted using the NUCCA procedure right from birth. This will prevent the degeneration we’re all familiar with from even beginning.
A gentle touch and controlled contact on the first vertebrae in the neck is designed to restore balance to the spine. The NUCCA doctor focuses on the relationship of the head to the neck. The atlas must be in line with the head, as well as the vertebrae below. Spinal injuries, including the birth process, can misalign these structures resulting in postural imbalance, pelvic distortion, and leg length disparity.
NUCCA is very effective in reducing postural distortion. A balanced spine has an opportunity to heal. Research studies have shown that when body balance is restored, the body enters a healing cycle that alleviates pain and symptoms. The upper cervical correction is designed to reposition the weight of the head (10-14 lbs) over the center of the neck to restore the body balance. Recovery continues as long as the correction holds and optimal spinal balance is maintained.
